Arsenal showing interest in signing Youssoufa Moukoko
Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in signing Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko, as per the 90min.
Following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, the Gunners are seemingly keen on strengthening their forward line this January. It is believed that the north London club are looking to purchase two new attackers this month and Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk were thought to be their priority targets.
However, while Mudryk is edging closer towards moving to the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s side are set to miss out on purchasing Felix as the Portuguese international is on the verge of joining Chelsea. So, after failing to broker a deal for the Atlético star, the Gunners may now have shifted their focus to Moukoko.
The 18-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season and he is yet to sign an extension with the BVB. This situation has attracted the attention of many European teams.
According to the report by 90min, Moukoko is asking for a £177,000-a-week to sign a new contract at the Signal Iduna Park, but the German giants aren’t prepared to accept the youngster’s wage demands. So, Edin Terzic’s side are struggling to find an agreement to tie the player down into a new long-term deal and now it is ‘increasingly likely’ that the forward will leave the club in the summer as a free agent.
Moukoko to Arsenal
The report further claims that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of the 18-year-old’s current situation and have asked to be kept informed regarding the development of the player’s future. However, signing the Dortmund man won’t be easy for the north London club as several Premier League rivals are also lining up a move for him.
If Dortmund failed to find an agreement to keep Moukoko at the club beyond this term then Terzic’s side could be forced to cash in on their star man this January in fear of losing him for free next summer.
With Arsenal looking to strengthen the attack this month in order to maintain a title charge, Moukoko could be a great signing. Moreover, signing a talent like the German international – valued at around £11m by FootballTransfers – for a cut-price deal this January will be a great piece of business.
So, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will make a move to sign Moukoko – if he opts to leave the German giants – for a cut-price deal in January or for free next summer.
