Arsenal keen on signing Brighton star Moises Caicedo
Arsenal are reportedly ready to battle out against the Premier League rivals in pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, as per the 90min.
After displaying a string of impressive performances over the last few months, the 21-year-old has now attracted the attention of upper echelons of Premier League clubs.
Brighton have made it clear that they don’t want to sell their star man this month and will only consider letting the midfielder leave if their valuation of £75m is met. With the midfielder still having two and a half years left in his current contract, the Seagulls are in no rush to sell the youngster this winter.
According to the report by 90min, Arsenal are showing an interest in Caicedo and they could look to purchase the midfielder this month or next summer in order to bolster their engine room. However, signing the Ecuadorian won’t be easy as several other Premier League rivals are also showing an interest in him.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that after brokering a deal for Leandro Trossard, Arsenal are expected to remain busy this January and they could try to add more depth to the middle of the park before the window shuts.
Caicedo to Arsenal
Romano said:
“It’s not over yet [Arsenal’s window after signing Trossard], the midfielder, there could be some opportunities. Let’s see.”
Caicedo is deemed one of the hottest prospects in world football at the moment. So, the youngster would be a great acquisition for Arsenal and he would certainly help – if he were to move to the Emirates Stadium this January – Arteta’s side in their quest of winning the title this season.
However, it is highly unlikely that the Gunners will spend the reported £75m fees to purchase the Ecuador international this month. So, a summer move is more likely, but, competition to sign him is expected to be very fierce.
It has recently been reported that Arsenal have prioritised a move for Declan Rice to bolster the engine room and they will make a summer swoop for the England international.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal will opt to make moves for both Rice and Caicedo in the summer. Signing both of them will cost more than £150m as it has been reported that West Ham could ask for a fee of around £70m to sell their talisman at the end of this season. So, it remains to be seen what Arsenal’s exact plans are regarding strengthening the engine room.
