Arsenal reach agreement to sign Spanish talent Ivan Fresneda
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Real Valladolid to sign Spanish starlet Ivan Fresneda, as per David Ornstein.
After displaying strings of impressive performances at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla this term, the 18-year-old has attracted the attention of many big clubs around Europe, with Mikel Arteta’s side being one of them.
The Gunners have been active in this winter window in order to strengthen the squad to continue the title charge this campaign. They have already signed Leandro Trossard and Polish defender Jakub Kiwior is also set to move to the Emirates Stadium from Spezia.
The north London club are expected to continue their spending spree and right-back is an area where Mikel Arteta is seemingly keen on adding more depth before the window slams shut.
Writing on The Athletic, Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal have already reached an agreement with Valladolid to sign Fresneda for a fee of around £13m this winter, and after purchasing the player, the Gunners will send him back on loan to the La Liga club for the rest of the season.
Fresneda to Arsenal
However, Arsenal aren’t the only club in the running as the report further claims that Borussia Dortmund have also agreed on the same deal with Pacheta’s side, so it’s now up to the player to decide who he wants to join.
With Fresneda set to remain on loan at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla until the summer, the player will be able to help Arsenal in their quest of winning the Premier League title this season, so he’s clearly been identified as a long-term signing.
Fresneda is a talented youngster and he should join a club where he would be given the opportunity to flourish. Although Dortmund are deemed one of the best destinations for young players, Arsenal would also be a very good destination for the defender.
Arteta would be an ideal manager to help him reach his full potential. The Spanish boss has shown his quality in helping young talents develop over the last few years at the Emirates, and Fresneda could also get the benefit of that if he joins the club this month.
It remains to be seen whether the youngster opts to join Arsenal but he’s likely to replace Cedric Soares if he does head to the Emirates Stadium. The Portuguese is expected to leave the Gunners either this month or in the summer.
