Arsenal keen on signing French starlet Sepe Elye Wahi
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Montpellier forward Sepe Elye Wahi at the end of this season, as per the French outlet Telefoot.
The Gunners are always in search of young talents and it was previously reported that they keep a close eye on the French market. And it appears the Montpellier forward is one of the players who has caught their attention.
The 20-year-old has been displaying promising performances this term, scoring eight goals and notching up a solitary assist in 21 Ligue 1 appearances.
According to the report by Telefoot, the north London club have been impressed by the youngster’s performances in recent times and they are now ‘dreaming’ of signing the player in the summer.
However, the report claims that signing the 20-year-old won’t be easy for the Premier League leaders as Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund are also showing an interest in purchasing him.
Elye Wahi to Arsenal
The report stated:
“Elye Wahi is in the sights of the greats of Europe. According to our information, Arsenal, Tottenham, or Dortmund are dreaming of Wahi next summer.”
The forward – valued at around £16m by Transfermarkt – still has two and a half years left in his current contract. So, the French side are in no rush to sell their star man over the coming months and the Gunners would be needed to offer a big fee to persuade Montpellier to sell their star man next summer if they opt to make a move for him.
Elye Wahi is a talented forward who possesses high potential. So, he would be a very good acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future.
However, having already got Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the squad, and with Folarin Balogun set to return after a successful loan spell at the end of this season, the north London club are currently well-stocked in their striker department.
Therefore, I believe Arsenal don’t need more investment in that area and would be better off using the funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.
