Arsenal lead race to sign West Ham ace Declan Rice
Arsenal are reportedly the frontrunner to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice next summer, as per Football Insider.
Rice is reportedly looking to move away from the London Stadium in order to play Champions League football. And therefore, the midfielder – who has entered the final 18 months of his current contract – has rejected several contract proposals to sign a new deal. So, it is increasingly likely that he will leave West Ham at the end of this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to take advantage of this situation and sign Rice in the summer after identifying him as a prime target. But, signing the Englishman won’t be easy for the north London club as Premier League rivals such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have all also been linked.
However, the West Ham man wants to stay in London which has placed Arsenal and Chelsea in an advantageous position over their Northern rivals to secure the midfielder’s signature next summer.
Rice to Arsenal
According to the report by Football Insider, Arsenal are looking to stay ahead of their rivals in this race by agreeing on personal terms with the player before a potential summer move and are ready to offer a lucrative contract proposal worth around £200,000 per-week to persuade the midfielder to join the club.
The report further claims that Arsenal have already opened talks with the player’s representatives and the negotiations are progressing well. The report also says that David Moyes’ side could ask a fee of around £80m to let their biggest asset leave next summer.
Rice is deemed one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He is technically sound, strong, dynamic enough to press the opposition higher up the field, can play threading passes between the lines and can contribute on both ends of the pitch.
So, he possesses almost every attribute to play in Arteta’s style of football and would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they manage to win the race for the England international.
It’s going to be interesting to see whether the north London club will be able to broker a for the 24-year-old should he were to leave West Ham following the conclusion of this season.
