Arsenal remain interested in signing Ivan Fresneda
Arsenal reportedly remain interested in signing Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
After coming through the Spanish club’s youth system, the 18-year-old made his senior debut early on in this campaign before establishing himself as a regular starter for Pacheta’s side.
He has been impressive since making his debut and having displayed a string of excellent performances in recent times, the youngster has caught the attention of big European clubs.
Fresneda was in demand in the winter window and the Gunners were one of the clubs who had shown their interest in signing him last month. However, a deal never materialised and the full-back stayed at Estadio Jose Zorrilla.
It appears Mikel Arteta’s side are still keen on purchasing the youngster and are ready to revive their interest in luring him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
Writing on Caught offside, Romano has claimed that Arsenal are planning to sign a new right back in the summer and Fresneda is still on their radar.
Fresneda to Arsenal
The journalist further states that the Gunners are currently monitoring the youngster’s development and are sending scouts regularly to watch the defender closely ahead of a potential move in the summer.
Romano said:
“They [Arsenal] are exploring right back options and Ivan Fresneda remains appreciated, they are sending scouts regularly to follow him.”
It has been reported that Valladolid value their star man at around £13m. So, the price tag won’t be an issue for Arsenal if they formalise their interest. But, signing the talented defender won’t be easy for Arteta’s side as Borussia Dortmund are also in line to secure the youngster’s signature.
The 18-year-old has already showcased his talent in La Liga this term and has the potential to develop further. So, he would be a very good acquisition for the north London club if they manage to lure the youngster to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
Following Cedric Soares’ departure, Arsenal are in search of a replacement for the Portugal international and Fresneda would be an excellent addition. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal will reignite their interest in brokering a deal for him.
