Arsenal submit proposal to sign Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic
Arsenal have reportedly submitted a £35m bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer, as per the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
It is an open secret that the Gunners are keen on bolstering their engine room next summer and they are reportedly looking to make more than one addition.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with numerous midfielders in recent weeks, with Declan Rice seemingly being their number-one target. And along with the Englishman, Milinkovic-Savic has also been emerging as a serious target for the north London club.
The 28-year-old’s existing contract will expire within 18 months and it has previously been suggested that he is unlikely to sign an extension with Lazio. So, it is increasingly likely that the midfielder will leave the club in the summer and Arsenal appear to be looking to take advantage of this situation.
According to the report by Calciomercato, Milinkovic-Savic has an agreement with Lazio that he will move away from the Stadio Olimpico at the end of this season as he doesn’t want to leave for free and Arsenal have shown a ‘concrete’ interest in signing the talented midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic to Arsenal
The report further claims that the Gunners have already opened talks with the player’s representatives over a potential summer move and have proposed a £35m deal to the 28-year-old’s agent, Mateja Kezman.
However, the report states that securing the midfielder’s signature won’t be easy for the north London club as Premier League rivals Newcastle United and West Ham United are also eyeing a move for him.
The Serbian can play multiple positions across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, brilliant in the air, has the ability to create chances for the attackers, can chip in with some important goals and also can contribute defensively as well.
Milinkovic-Savic is deemed one of the best midfielders in Serie A so he would be a very good acquisition for Arsenal if they were to be able to get this deal done next summer.
Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see whether the north London club will be able to secure Milinkovic-Savic’s signature if he ends up leaving Lazio at the end of this season.
