Arsenal pushing hard to sign West Ham ace Declan Rice
Arsenal are reportedly trying ‘aggressively’ to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice in the summer, as per the CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.
It has widely been touted that the Gunners are exploring the possibility of strengthening their engine room for next season and writing on Caught offside, Fabrizio Romano recently approves of that claim.
Romano said:
“I still believe that Arsenal want a new midfielder in the summer to help Mikel Arteta if they find the right opportunity.”
Now, Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs has reported that Arsenal are plotting a swoop for Rice and are currently leading the race to sign the England international next summer.
The journalist further states that Arsenal are pushing ‘aggressively’ to secure the midfielder’s signature and the north London club believe a deal can be done for a fee of around £70-80m at the end of this season.
Rice to Arsenal
However, Jacobs says that securing Rice’s signature won’t be easy for Arsenal as London rivals Chelsea are also eyeing a move for him.
Jacobs said:
“Suitors have always felt, regardless of what West Ham may be putting out there, that they can get Rice for at the lowest end £70m, and perhaps more realistically £75m to £80m, which would be excellent value based on the current market.
“If a deal can be done at that number, then both Arsenal and Chelsea and other suitors will believe that they’ve got themselves a really strong deal. So, Rice is going to be in demand and Arsenal are going to be one of the clubs right at the front of the queue, trying very hard and aggressively to get him.”
The 24-year-old, whose current deal will expire within 18 months, looks set to leave the Hammers at the end of this season after rejecting several contract proposals from David Moyes’ side. And it has recently been reported that the West Ham ace is excited about the prospect of joining the Emirates Stadium and playing in the Champions League next season.
Rice is a highly talented player and would be a massive coup for Arsenal if they were to be able to secure the Englishman’s signature next summer. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal will be able to win the race to purchase the midfielder if he ends up leaving the London Stadium at the end of this season.
