Lazio to reduce Arsenal target Milinkovic-Savic’s valuation
Lazio are reportedly ready to reduce Arsenal target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s asking price, as per the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serbian has entered the final 18 months of his current contract and is yet to sign the renewal with Maurizio Sarri’s side. It has been reported that although Lazio are keen on tying their star man down into a new long-term deal, the player is reluctant to stay and wants to move away from the Italian capital to take a new challenge in his career.
Milinkovic-Savic reportedly doesn’t want to leave Lazio for free so, he wants to engineer a move away from the Stadio Olimpico at the end of this season.
It has previously been suggested that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of this situation and purchase the highly talented midfielder next summer as they are keen on bolstering their engine room for next season.
Lazio have always insisted that they don’t want to sell Milinkovic-Savic for any less than £88m. However, according to the report by Gazzetta dello Sport, Sarri’s side are prepared to lower the Serbian’s valuation due to his current contract situation and want a £44m fee to let the midfielder leave in the summer. But, the midfielder’s agent is ‘pushing’ to take his client away from Station Olimpico for a fee of around £31m.
Milinkovic-Savic to Arsenal
The report also says that securing the Lazio ace’s signature won’t be easy for the north London club as Serie A giants Juventus are also eyeing a move for him.
The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Italian football since joining the Biancocelesti back in 2015. So, with Arsenal looking to strengthen their midfield department next summer, signing Milinkovic-Savic could be a very good decision, especially if he becomes available for the reported £31m fee.
It has previously been reported that following Arsenal’s resurgence under Mikel Arteta this season, the north London club have now become a tempting destination for the midfielder and he is open to joining them in the summer.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Gunners will decide to make a concrete approach to sign the Lazio star if he eventually leaves Sarri’s side at the end of this season.
