Arsenal to submit bid for Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz
Arsenal are reportedly preparing to submit an official proposal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz in the summer, as per the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
The 22-year-old was deemed one of the best young talents in Europe during his time at Manchester City academy. But, after leaving the Citizens to join Real Madrid in a £15m deal, the midfielder’s progress faltered. And having failed to prove himself at the Spanish capital, the youngster has now been sent out on loan to AC Milan.
Diaz has featuring regularly at the San Siro Stadium, but hasn’t been able to showcase his best in the Italian top-flight. However, despite that, Mikel Arteta – who worked with the Spaniard during his time at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s assistant – still admires the youngster and wants to reunite with his compatriot at the Emirates Stadium.
Sport Witness cites and translates the print version of Corriere dello Sport as saying that Diaz is likely to return to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu at the end of this season after finishing his loan stint with Milan as the Rossoneri aren’t prepared to trigger his current £19m buy option and are looking to negotiate a cheaper deal.
Diaz to Arsenal
However, the report claims that Arsenal are ready to trump Milan in signing the 23-year-old – whose current contract with Los Blancos will run until June 2025 – and the Gunners are ready to submit a formal offer to sign the player this summer.
It has come as a big surprise that the Gunners are exploring the possibility of signing another attacking midfielder, having already got Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe.
In addition, Diaz has failed to shine over the last few seasons, so if the Gunners opt to push forward with this deal then that would be a baffling decision. However, having already worked with the midfielder at Man City, perhaps Arteta knows the secret of bringing the best out of the Spain international.
So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal decide to make a concrete approach to sign the Spaniard at the end of this season.
