Arsenal target Gabri Veiga keen on moving to the Emirates
Arsenal target and Celta Vigo midfielder Gabriel Veiga is reportedly keen on moving to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming summer window, as per the Spanish outlet Faro de Vigo.
The 20-year-old has been enjoying a brilliant campaign in the Spanish top-flight this term, scoring nine goals and notching up three assists in 25 La Liga appearances.
After his stellar performance this season, the youngster has started to attract the attention of numerous big European clubs ahead of the summer window with the Gunners among those to have registered their interest.
Sport Witness cites and translates the print version of Faro de Vigo as saying that Veiga ‘dreams’ of playing for Arsenal so the Gunners’ interest has attracted him the most.
The report further claims that the player’s representatives are impressed by Mikel Arteta’s side’s sporting project and their willingness to promote young players. So, Veiga is keen on joining the north London club this summer.
Veiga to Arsenal
However, the report says that Napoli are also interested in signing the player and they are ready to trigger the midfielder’s £35m release clause. Therefore, the Gunners are set to face tough competition from Luciano Spalletti’s side in getting any potential deal done for Veiga.
Arsenal are looking to bolster their engine room for next season and Veiga could be a solid signing as he can play in multiple positions in the middle of the park. However, it appears Arteta is prioritising making a move for a defensive midfielder as he is getting concerned by Thomas Partey’s growing injury problems.
It has been suggested that Rice is the Premier League leaders’ primary target and he is likely to cost a fee of around £75m. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal have the financial muscle to sign Veiga as well if they manage to secure the West Ham star’s signature.
The north London club are planning to strengthen the squad with the intention of challenging on all fronts from next season. So, signing experienced and well-established players would be an ideal decision as they would be able to hit the ground running and help Arsenal in achieving their lofty ambitions.
However, Veiga is a talented midfielder and possesses high potential so, purchasing a player of his quality would be a very good business should Arsenal manage to get this deal done at the end of this season.
