Arsenal ‘strongest’ candidate to sign Barca star Akhomach
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona youngster Ilias Akhomach in the upcoming summer window as per the Spanish outlet Sport.
The 18-year-old came through the Catalan club’s youth team before making his senior debut in 2021. The forward is deemed one of the best young talents of Blaugrana’s famous La Masia academy but he has failed to break into Xavi Hernandez’s star-studded first-eleven this season. So, it seems he has grown frustrated with the lack of first-team action at Camp Nou.
The youngster has entered the final four months of his current contract and the Catalan giants have been struggling to persuade the Spaniard in signing a new deal. So, it is increasingly likely that he will leave Camp Nou for free in search of regular game-time.
Several clubs around Europe are keeping a close eye on Akhomach’s current situation with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
Sport Witness cites and translates the print version of Sport as saying that Arsenal are ‘strongest’ candidate to sign Akhomach this summer and are ready to go all the way to get this deal done.
Akhomach to Arsenal
However, the report claims that Leeds United, AC Milan and Sevilla are also plotting a swoop for the Spaniard. So, the north London club are set to face fierce competition to get any potential deal done for Akhomach.
The left-footed right-winger is technically sound, quick, has terrific close control, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can create chances for fellow attackers and also has an eye for scoring goals.
Akhomach is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential. So, he would certainly be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to sign him for free.
With Mikel Arteta looking to bring in a new right winger to support Bukayo Saka, Akhomach could be an excellent addition if he were to move to the Emirates Stadium. However, the Barca star is still very young and needs proper guidance to reach his full potential.
Arteta has already showcased his ability to nurture young talents and help them reach their full potential over the last few years as the Gunners’ boss with Saka and Gabriel Martinelli being prime examples of that. So, the north London club would be an ideal destination for Akhomach should he ends up leaving Camp Nou at the end of this season.
