Arsenal could sign Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrom
Arsenal could sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom in a £35m deal this summer, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old moved to Deutsche Bank Park from Brondby IF during the summer of 2021 in a £6m deal. After joining the Eagles, the midfielder has established himself as an integral part of Oliver Glasner’s side’s first eleven, helping his side in winning the Europa League title last term.
Having displayed his talent in the German top-flight, the youngster has caught the attention of several big European clubs, with Arsenal being among them to have registered their interest.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg suggested recently that Arsenal [and Liverpool] have opened talks over a potential deal to sign Lindstrom.
Writing on Caught offside, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are ‘informed’ on the playmakers situation and Frankfurt would be ready to cash-in if £35m [€40m] was put on the table.
However, the Italian says that nothing has been advanced yet regarding this deal as no bids or proposals have been discuss as yet for the Danish international.
Lindstrom to Arsenal
Romano said:
“There has been some strong speculation about Arsenal and Liverpool being in contact over trying to sign Jesper Lindstrom from Eintracht Frankfurt. I’d never deny info from others; can just say that I’m told it’s true that Premier League clubs are informed on Lindstrom but I’m not aware of proposals, bids or advanced negotiations yet. Price tag could be around €40m.”
Lindstrom still has more than three years left in his current contract. So, Frankfurt are in a strong position to ask a big fee to let their star man leave at the end of this season.
The Dane has been enjoying a promising campaign at Deutsche Bank Park this term, scoring seven goals and notching up two assists in 22 Bundesliga appearances.
Lindstrom can play in multiple positions across the attacking midfield. He is technically sound, quick, can create chances for the forward players, works extremely hard without possession and has an eye for scoring goals as well.
So, the 23-year-old could be a very good signing for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature this summer. But, having already got Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira in the squad, the Gunners don’t need more additions in the number ten position at the moment. Therefore, saving the £35m fee to strengthen other areas of the squad would be a better decision.
