Arsenal preparing swap deal to sign AC Milan ace Hernandez
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez in a swap deal involving Kieran Tierney this summer, as per the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Following a difficult spell in La Liga, the 25-year-old joined the Rossoneri back in 2019 from Real Madrid to revive his career. The move has been a great success as he has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Serie A over the last few years, playing a key role in Stefano Pioli’s side’s league triumph last term.
After displaying impressive performances in the Italian top-flight in recent years, the Frenchman has caught the attention of several big European clubs, with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
According to the report by Calciomercato, Arsenal are plotting a swoop for Hernandez to reinforce their left-back position at the end of this season.
The report further claims that Milan want at least £61m if they are forced to sell their star man and Arsenal are looking to reduce the transfer fee by including Oleksandr Zinchenko or Tierney in a part-exchange deal.
Hernandez to Arsenal
After joining the Emirates club at the beginning of this term, Zinchenko has established himself as a pivotal member of Mikel Arteta’s first eleven. So, it is highly unlikely that the Spanish boss would allow the Ukrainian’s departure this summer.
However, Tierney has found it difficult to break into the Gunners’ first eleven this season and he has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium ahead of the summer window. So, he seems a far more likely option to be included in this swap deal to sign Hernandez.
The Frenchman still has more than three years left in his current contract. So, the Rossoneri are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to let the defender leave in the summer.
The Milan star possesses blistering quick pace, is strong, good in the air, technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has the ability to deliver excellent crosses from the wide areas, can create chances for the attackers and also has the potential to chip in with some important goals.
So, Hernandez would be an excellent signing for the north London club if they manage to lure him away from the San Siro Stadium at the end of this season. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal decide to formalise their interest in signing the France international this summer.
