Arsenal keeping tabs on Bayern Munich star Gravenberch
Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch ahead of the summer window, as per the German football expert Florian Plettenberg.
The 20-year-old joined the Bundesliga giants at the beginning of this campaign from Ajax Amsterdam in a £16m deal, though he has struggled to find regular game time at the Allianz Arena, making only four starts in all competitions so far this term.
So, having failed to find his feet in the German Bundesliga, speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future has already started to emerge ahead of the summer window.
However, despite his recent struggles, Gravenberch isn’t short of suitors as clubs like Arsenal are looking to take advantage of his current situation and sign him this summer.
Writing on Twitter, Plettenberg has reported that Arsenal are showing an interest in signing Gravenberch and they are monitoring the midfielder’s situation ahead of a potential summer move.
Gravenberch to Arsenal
The journalist further claims that Arsenal haven’t opened any formal negotiations regarding a potential deal yet but they could make a formal approach over the coming weeks.
Plettenberg also says that Gravenberch could be tempted to join the Gunners as the midfielder will have the chance to play regular first-team football if he were to move to the Emirates Stadium and everything is now depending whether Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel wants to let the Dutchman leave this summer.
Plettenberg wrote:
“Arsenal is monitoring him and his situation at Bayern! But no negotiations yet. Lot of competition with Ødegaard, Xhaka, Partey, Jorginho … but nevertheless: He could get more playing time there. Now all depends on Tuchel.”
The Netherlands international – valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt – still has more than four years left in his current contract. So, Bayern are expected to demand a big fee if Arsenal decide to formalise their interest in signing the former Ajax man at the end of this season.
Although Gravenberch has struggled to showcase his best for Bayern, the 20-year-old is an extremely talented player and has plenty of time to steer his career back on the right track.
The youngster is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has the efficiency to create chances for the attackers and also has an eye for scoring goals, so he’s a terrific all-round midfielder.
With Arsenal looking to bolster their engine room this summer, Gravenberch would be a shrewd acquisition if they manage to secure his signature at the end of this season.
