Arsenal tipped to sign Ajax star Kudus this summer
Former Netherlands manager Frank De Boer has urged Arsenal to sign Ajax Amsterdam star Mohammed Kudus this summer.
The 22-year-old has been enjoying a stellar campaign this term, scoring 18 goals and registering four assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.
The Ghanaian’s impressive displays for Ajax have caught the attention of several big European clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
Speaking to Voetbalprimeur, De Boer has said that Kudus is an excellent player and he would be a great acquisition for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature at the end of this season.
The Dutchman further claims that after qualifying for the Champions League, Arsenal need to add squad depth to challenge on all fronts from next season. So, they should look to invest during the upcoming transfer window in order to help Mikel Arteta in achieving their lofty ambitions.
Kudus to Arsenal
De Boer said:
“Kudus is a top player and he would be a good acquisition for Arsenal. You play 38 games in the Premier League, you enter the Champions League and you have two cup competitions.
“Then you really need all the players. Arsenal has had very few injuries this season, they almost always played with the same line-up. You could fill that in blindly. But that is not the case every season. If a few players drop out, then you have adequate replacements are needed if you want to compete at the top.”
Kudus is a versatile player – who can play anywhere across the attacking midfield position. He is technically sound, excellent in link-up play, has an eye for long-range passing, can finish off his chances, has the ability to wriggle past opposition defenders in tight areas and also works extremely hard without possession.
The African is an extremely talented player and possesses the potential to become a world-class midfielder. So, he would certainly be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to get a deal done this summer.
It has been suggested that Ajax don’t want to let their star man leave for cheap if they are forced to cash-in this summer and want at least £48m. So, Arsenal would need to spend a big chunk of their transfer budget to lure Kudus to the Emirates Stadium should they opt to formalise their interest at the end of this season.
