Arsenal eyeing a move for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot
Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a summer swoop for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, as per 90min.
The midfielder’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season and he hasn’t signed a new deal yet with the Bianconeri so, speculation surrounding the Frenchman’s future continues to grow ahead of the summer window. It appears Arsenal are looking to take advantage of this situation and sign Rabiot for free to strengthen their engine room.
According to the report by 90min, Rabiot has been in contact with Juventus regarding a new long-term deal but nothing has been agreed yet, so it is increasingly likely that he could move away as a free agent at the end of this season.
The report further claims that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on this situation and are ready to pounce if an opportunity arises. However, 90min states that signing Rabiot won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Manchester United are also keen on securing the 28-year-old’s signature.
Rabiot to Arsenal
Rabiot has been enjoying a stellar campaign this term, scoring 11 goals and registering four assists in 44 appearances in all competitions. On top of that, the Frenchman helped his country in reaching the final of last year’s Qatar World Cup before falling short to Argentina on penalties.
Rabiot – valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt – is an extremely talented player and has already proved his worth playing at the highest level over the last few years. So, he would certainly bolster Arsenal’s engine room if they manage to lure the France international to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The 28-year-old likes to be deployed in the box-to-box role but can play anywhere across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, dynamic, good in the air, can play threading passes between the lines and has an eye for long-range passing.
In addition, the midfielder works extremely hard without possession, likes to make surging runs from the deep and also can contribute defensively as well.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal formalise their interest in signing Rabiot if he eventually moves away from the Old Lady of Turin as a free at the end of this season.
