Arsenal weigh up swoop for Rice and Caicedo this summer
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Premier League duo Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo this summer, as per the Times.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners want to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window and bolstering the engine room is high on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist.
Declan Rice has continuously been mentioned as the North London club’s primary target but Caicedo has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few months. It was initially thought that the Ecuadorian could be the alternative target that Arteta’s side were lining up if they fail to secure a deal for the West Ham star.
However, according to the report by the Times, Arsenal are looking to sign both Rice and Caicedo to strengthen their midfield department for next season and they are expected to cost a combined fee of around £170m.
The report further claims that Arsenal are planning for a mega £200m spending spree to construct a team that can challenge on all fronts from next season and are ready to cash-in on Granit Xhaka, Emile Smith Rowe, Falorin Balogun and Rob Holding to beef up their summer transfer budget.
Rice and Caicedo to Arsenal
After enjoying a stellar campaign this term, Arsenal ran out of steam towards the business end of this season. So, this suggests that the Gunners need proper squad depth to compete in all competitions going forward.
Midfield is an area that needs strengthening as the Gunners lack quality in that position after the first-choice options. So, adding reinforcements to their midfield is vital and purchasing Caicedo and Rice would be excellent business.
Caicedo and Rice have showcased their talents in the English top-flight over the last few campaigns and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that the midfield duo will be able to replicate the same performances at Arsenal if they were to join the club this summer.
Watching the Englishman and the South American in action together at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield will be a mouthwatering prospect for the North Londoners. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side manage to purchase both Rice and Caicedo at the end of this season.
