Arsenal weigh up a swoop for Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for Atletico Paranaenses starlet Vitor Roque, as per the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
It has recently been reported that the Gunners are planning to splash the cash in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the squad in order to challenge on all fronts from next season.
Reinforcing midfield is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s priority but apart from that, adding more firepower to the backline and the attack is also on the Spanish boss’ to-do list this summer.
The North London club have been linked with a host of forward options over the last few months with Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund being among them, but Roque is emerging as a serious target.
Sport Witness cites and translates the print version of Mundo Deportivo as saying that Arsenal are keen on signing Roque so they could make a summer swoop for the South American starlet.
Roque to Arsenal
The report further claims that Atletico Paranaenses are ‘resigned to losing’ their star man at the end of this season and are demanding at least £30m to let him leave. So, Arsenal would be able to broker a deal for the South American for an affordable price if they decide to formalise their interest in the summer.
However, Mundo Deportivo says that the Gunners are likely to face a stern challenge from Barcelona, Chelsea, Newcastle United and PSG in getting any potential deal done for Roque as they have also registered their interest in signing the highly talented forward.
The 18-year-old has showcased glimpses of his talent playing in the Brazilian top-flight recently. He is deemed one of the best young forwards in the world so purchasing a talent like him would be a shrewd decision for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future.
Roque is a young player – who needs time to settle down in his new surroundings and develop his career. So, the North Londoners should keep their patience before imposing the pressure of expectations on the young man’s shoulders if he were to join the club this summer.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal manage to secure a deal for Roque should he eventually ends up leaving Atletico Paranaenses at the end of this season.
