Arsenal closing in on a deal to sign West Ham ace Rice
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice this summer, as per the transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.
The Gunners have seemingly prioritised strengthening their engine room in the upcoming transfer window and have earmarked the 24-year-old as the priority target.
It has previously been suggested that Arsenal are set to accelerate their efforts to sign the England international following West Ham’s Conference League triumph and they will submit an opening proposal soon.
Now, writing on Twitter, Plettenberg has claimed that Arsenal are putting together a formal proposal of around £86m[€100m] plus add-ons to secure Rice’s signature and West Ham are ready to accept the North London club’s offer. So, it appears Mikel Arteta’s side are closing in on a deal to sign their primary midfield target, Rice.
Plettenberg wrote:
“Arsenal is preparing a final bid of more than €100m plus bonus payments. West Ham is willing to say YES.”
Rice to Arsenal
Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have all expressed their interest in signing the West Ham star. But, it seems Arsenal are set to beat all of those teams in this race.
Rice plays as a holding midfielder and likes to make surging runs from deep. He is technically sound, dynamic, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing and also can contribute defensively as well.
The 24-year-old has already showcased his talent for club and country over the last few years. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
With Arsenal looking to build a squad to challenge on all fronts from next season, Rice possesses the necessary qualities to help the club in achieving their lofty ambitions.
Meanwhile, it has been suggested that Arsenal are planning to sign Rice and Moises Caicedo to beef up their engine room in the upcoming transfer window. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Gunners will make a move for the Ecuadorian as well should they manage to secure the Englishman’s signature.
