Arsenal interested in signing Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
Arsenal are reportedly showing an interest in signing Ajax Amsterdam star Mohammed Kudus in this transfer window, as per the Daily Mail.
After narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners have decided to spend big to strengthen their squad in order to bridge the gap with Manchester City.
They have already splashed more than £200m and have signed Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. It has been suggested that Mikel Arteta is keen on adding more firepower to his squad and is looking to sign at least two new players this summer.
According to the report by the Daily Mail, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Kudus to beef up their squad but they will first have to sell some players before signing anyone in this transfer window.
The report further claims that Ajax value their star man at around £40m so, it seems the North London club will have to spend big to secure the 22-year-old’s signature if they formalise their interest.
Kudus to Arsenal
Kudus enjoyed a stellar campaign last term, scoring 18 goals and notching up six assists in 42 appearances in all competitions. So, it appears the Ghana international’s recent impressive displays for Ajax have attracted the attention of Arsenal.
Arteta likes to have versatile players in his squad and Kudus would be an ideal option as he is comfortable playing anywhere across the attacking midfield position as well as in the centre-forward role.
The 22-year-old is quick, technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to finish off his chances and also works hard without possession.
Kudus possesses the necessary attributes to play in Arteta’s possession-based style of football so he would be an excellent signing for Arsenal if they manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
It is going to be interesting to see, having already spent over £200m this summer, how much more Arsenal are going to splash to strengthen their squad before the end of this window.
