Arsenal keeping tabs on Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation of Ajax Amsterdam star Mohammed Kudus ahead of a potential summer move, as per 90min.
It has been suggested that the Gunners want to sign a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka and have identified the Ghanaian international as a serious target.
However, the North London club are currently unable to make moves for any new signings as having already splashed more than £200m, they first need to raise funds by selling some players before re-focusing on adding more firepower this summer.
Meanwhile, it has recently been reported that Chelsea have now also joined the race to sign Kudus and are closing in on an agreement with the player regarding the personal terms.
However, according to the report by 90min, Arsenal haven’t been put off by the Blues’ interest and are still interested in signing the African.
The report further claims that the North London club are currently keeping a close eye on Kudus’s current situation and have asked Ajax to keep them up to date regarding any negotiations.
Kudus to Arsenal
However, 90min states that along with Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion are also eyeing a swoop for the 22-year-old. So, it appears luring Kudus to the Emirates Stadium will be an extremely difficult task for Arsenal in this transfer window.
It has been suggested that Arsenal have already opened initial talks with Ajax to learn about the details of signing Kudus and they have been made aware that they will have to spend a fee of around £40m to sign the midfielder.
Mikel Arteta likes to have versatile players in his squad and the Ajax star would be an ideal option as he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield role as well as in the centre-forward position. He has already showcased glimpses of his talent at the highest level in recent times so the Ghanaian would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature in this transfer window.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually manage to beat their English rivals in this race and sign Kudus this summer to strengthen their squad ahead of crucial next season.
