Arsenal receive boost in pursuit of Mohammed Kudus
Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a swoop for Ajax star Mohammed Kudus in order to strengthen their attacking department in this transfer window.
However, it has recently been suggested that Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in signing the African and they have already agreed on a deal in principle with the Eredivisie giants to acquire his service.
The 23-year-old was given a 48-hour deadline to decide whether he wants to accept the Seagulls’ proposal and move to the AMEX Stadium. However, despite exceeding that time, Kudus hasn’t made his final decision yet.
It seems he isn’t willing to join Roberto de Zerbi’s side and instead, is waiting for a bigger club to make a move. This is a huge boost for Arsenal in pursuit of the African.
Therefore, Arsenal could manage to secure his signature in this transfer window if they formalise their interest and it has been suggested that Ajax want a fee of around £40m to let their star man leave.
Kudus to Arsenal
However, according to the report by Voetbal International(via Football.london), Ajax are expected to increase their asking price ‘with each passing day’ so Arsenal will have to act quickly in order to purchase him for an affordable fee.
But, it has been suggested that the Gunners are set to face fierce competition from Chelsea in getting any potential deal done for Kudus as they are also interested in signing him.
The African enjoyed a stellar campaign at the Johan Cruijff ArenA last term, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists in 19 league starts. So, it appears Kudus’ recent impressive displays for Ajax have caught the attention of Arsenal and Chelsea.
The youngster is a versatile player as he can be deployed anywhere across the middle of the park and is also comfortable playing in the number nine role. He is technically sound, has the ability to dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can play threading passes between the lines and also has an eye for long-range passing.
Kudus is also excellent in finishing off his chances, has the ability to create opportunities for fellow attackers and also works hard without possession. He possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature.
