Arsenal make ‘approach’ to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati
Arsenal have reportedly made an ‘approach’ to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati this summer, as per the Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez.
After recovering from injury issues, the 20-year-old has struggled to showcase his best in recent times and as a consequence of that, he has lost his place in Xavi Hernandez’s starting eleven.
So, speculation surrounding his future continues to grow and it has been suggested that Barcelona are ready to cash-in on him to raise funds in order to bolster other areas of the squad.
It has previously been reported that despite his current struggles, he has no intention of leaving the Catalan giants and is eager to fight for his place in Xavi’s first eleven. However, recent reports have started to claim that Fati has now changed his stance and is considering leaving the Blaugrana in search of regular playing time.
Speaking on Mas Que Pelotas YouTube channel, Sanchez has reported that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of this situation and have already made an ‘approach’ to convince the player to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Fati to Arsenal
However, the journalist states that securing the Spaniard’s signature won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as arch-rival Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing him and have already made contact with the player’s representatives over a potential move.
Fati – valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt – still has four years left in his current contract. So, Barcelona are expected to demand a big fee to let their star man leave this summer.
Having already splashed more than £200m this summer, it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will spend big on Fati this summer to strengthen their frontline.
The forward has been struggling to showcase his best in recent times so it would be a huge risk to invest big money to acquire his service. Therefore, Arsenal would be better off exploring other options to strengthen their attack this summer.
However, it has been suggested that following Jurrien Timber’s injury, the North London club are planning to sign a new defender to replace the Dutchman. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal can afford to purchase a new attacker if they eventually decide to sign a new defender in this transfer window.
