Arsenal remain interested in signing Wolves star Pedro Neto
Arsenal reportedly remain interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, as per the transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Gunners have been exploring the possibility of signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka since last summer but despite being linked with numerous options, they haven’t decided to sign anyone yet.
It was previously suggested that Mikel Arteta was keen on purchasing the Wolves star – valued at around £24m by Transfermarkt – last summer and the North London club even opened initial talks with the West Midlands club to acquire the Portuguese’s service. However, in the end, Arsenal failed to broker a deal for the 23-year-old and he stayed at the Molineux Stadium.
Having missed out on signing a new right-winger last summer, it has previously been reported that the North London club could opt to purchase one in this transfer window.
However, speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that although Arsenal have ‘historically’ been interested in signing Neto, the Gunners aren’t expected to make a move for him at this moment, rather they are focusing on building chemistry among the players who are currently in the squad.

The journalist further claims that following Jurrien Timber’s injury, Arteta is now planning to sign a new defender to replace the Dutchman. In addition, the Emirates club are currently looking to trim down the squad before the end of this window.
Jacobs said:
“The Arsenal interest has been there historically. But at this stage for Arsenal, it’s more about stabilising and building chemistry with what they’ve got and now scrambling unexpectedly because of that injury to Jurrien Timber and finalising outgoings between now and when the window closes.
“So, at this stage, I’m not aware of anything advancing between Arsenal and Pedro Neto, but it is true that historical interest has been there.”
Therefore, it seems Arsenal will be going into this season without any backup option for Saka. So, the North Londoners will be hoping that the Englishman will be able to remain fit for a whole season and will be able to perform at his best throughout the campaign.
