Arsenal set to receive offer from Monaco to sell Balogun
Arsenal are reportedly set to receive a more than £35m offer from AS Monaco for Folarin Balogun this summer, as per talkSPORT.
After joining Stade de Reims on a season-long loan last summer, the striker enjoyed a stellar season last term, scoring 21 goals and registering two assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.
Having displayed his talent in the French to-flight, questions were raised as to whether the Gunners would give the 22-year-old opportunity to prove his worth in the Premier League.
It has been suggested that Balogun is keen on playing regular first-team football but having already got enough firepower in the attacking department, Mikel Arteta can’t guarantee him of that. So, the North London club have reportedly decided to cash-in on him to raise funds in order to strengthen the other areas of the squad.
Several clubs around Europe such as Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur previously expressed their interest in signing Balogun. But, while the Nerazzurri failed to broker a deal for the 22-year-old, Spurs never formalised their interest in signing him.
Balogun to leave Arsenal
Now, according to the report by talkSPORT, Monaco are keen on acquiring the striker’s service this summer and they are preparing to submit an offer of more than £35m.
But, the report claims that securing Balogun’s signature won’t be straightforward for the Ligue 1 side as Chelsea are also weighing up a swoop for him and they have already held initial talks with the player’s representatives ahead of a potential move.
It has been suggested that Arsenal want £50m to let their star man leave this summer and it is going to be interesting to see whether they decide to accept Monaco’s proposal if they launch it or stay firm on their valuation.
Arsenal are seemingly looking to sign a new defender to replace Jurrien Timber following his serious knee issue. Along with a defender, purchasing Mohammed Kudus is seemingly also on Arteta’s agenda this summer.
So, the North London club will have to clear out the squad as quickly as possible before re-focusing on adding more firepower as the transfer deadline day is approaching very fast.
