Arsenal getting increasingly interested in signing Guehi
Arsenal are reportedly getting increasingly interested in signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi this summer, as per the Daily Mail.
After moving to Selhurst Park back in 2021 from Chelsea in a £20m deal, the 23-year-old has established himself as an integral part of the Eagles’ first eleven over the last couple of years.
So, it seems the Englishman’s impressive displays in the English top-flight haven’t gone unnoticed as he has already attracted the attention of several big Premier League clubs in recent times with the Gunners among those to have registered their interest.
According to the report by the Daily Mail, Arsenal are planning to strengthen their backline this summer and are getting increasingly interested in signing Guehi.
The Gunners have already purchased Jurrien Timber to reinforce their defence in this transfer window but following his unfortunate lengthy knee issue, it has been suggested that Mikel Arteta is keen on signing a new defender to replace the Dutchman.
Guehi to Arsenal
Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Timothy Castagne, Perr Schuurs and Kyle Walker-Peters being among them, but Guehi is now emerging as a serious target.
The 23-year-old still has three years left in his current contract. So Palace are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in this summer and it has been suggested that Roy Hodgson’s side want around £60m.
Guehi is quick, strong, extremely comfortable playing out from the back, good in the air, efficient in defensive contributions and also reads the game well.
The Englishman is a talented defender and has already showcased his talent in the English top-flight in recent years. So, the North Londoners will be hoping that Guehi will be able to replicate the same performance at the Emirates Stadium if he were to join the club this summer.
However, having already splashed more than £200m, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal have the financial resources to broker a deal for Guehi in this transfer window.
Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign the Crystal Palace star to bolster their backline over the coming days.
