Arsenal interested in signing Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in this transfer window, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
After the new signing Jurrien Timber’s serious knee injury, the Gunners are seemingly exploring the possibility of signing a new defender to replace the Netherlands international.
Perr Schuurs, Jules Kounde and Kyle Walker-Peters have all been mentioned as potential targets for Arsenal in recent times, but Guehi is reportedly on their radar as well.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that Arsenal have been interested in signing Guehi for a while and they could opt to make a move for him before the end of this window to strengthen their backline.
The journalist further claims that Palace don’t want to lose their star man late in this window and could demand a fee of more than £60m if they are forced to cash-in.
Guehi to Arsenal
Jones also states that Palace could ask Takehiro Tomiyasu in a swap deal to sell Guehi as they don’t want to put themselves in a situation where they opt to let their star man leave and struggle to replace him late in this window.
Jones said:
“The Marc Guehi interest has been there for a while. I don’t know that it necessarily would combine well with any interest from Takehiro Tomiyasu from Palace because Palace have no intention to lose Guehi and value him very, very highly. Earlier in the window I was being told of a £60m valuation on him and to be honest at this stage of the window it has probably risen.”
After moving to Selhurst Park back in 2021 from Chelsea in a £20m deal, Guehi has established himself as an integral part of the Eagles’ first eleven in recent times.
The Englishman is quick, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, excellent in defensive contributions and also reads the game well.
Guehi is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential so, he would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal should they sign him this summer.
However, having already splashed more than £200m in this transfer window, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal have the financial resources to broker a deal for Guehi by matching Palace’s more than £60m asking price.
