Arsenal planning to make swoop for Barcelona star Ansu Fati
Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati before Friday’s transfer deadline, as per 90min.
It seems the 20-year-old’s future at the Catalan giants is all but over after he failed to showcase his best in recent times upon returning from serious injury issues.
Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Fati could leave Barcelona so his situation needs to be kept a close eye on until the end of this window.
Now, according to the report by 90min, the Spaniard’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has informed several big clubs around Europe that the winger is willing to leave Xavi Hernandez’s side in order to take a new challenge in his career.
The report further claims that Barcelona are ready to let him leave to offload him from the wage bill amid their financial difficulties and Arsenal have registered their interest in purchasing him.
Fati to Arsenal
90min further states that Arsenal are set to be playing in the Champions League this season so adding depth to their attacking department would be the right decision and Fati could be an excellent signing.
However, the report says that acquiring Fati’s service won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also keen on purchasing him.
In the meantime, Romano has reported that Spurs have already accelerated their efforts to sign the 20-year-old and have opened direct talks with Barcelona to secure his signature. So, if Arsenal want to sign him this summer then they will have to act quickly.
Fati likes to play in the left-wing position but he can also be deployed in the centre-forward position. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create chances for fellow attackers and also can finish off his chances.
So, although he struggled to showcase his best for Barcelona in recent times, he is still an extremely talented player and possesses high potential.
Therefore, Fati – valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt – could turn out to be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal should they opt to sign him before the end of this window. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually decide to formalise their interest.
