Arsenal receive bid to sell Emile Smith Rowe this summer
Arsenal have reportedly received a formal proposal worth around £30m-£42m from Brighton and Hove Albion to sell Emile Smith Rowe before tomorrow’s deadline, as per the former football agent Jimmy McCann.
After coming through the Hale End academy, the 23-year-old started his senior Arsenal career promisingly. But, after returning from an injury problem, the Englishman has found himself on the periphery in recent seasons.
So, speculation surrounding his future continues to grow in recent times and it has been suggested that Mikel Arteta is ready to let the midfielder leave in this transfer window to recoup some money having already spent over £200m this summer.
Chelsea previously expressed their interest in signing Smith Rowe but after securing a deal to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City in a £45m deal, it is looking unlikely that they will now make a move for Smith Rowe.
However, 90min recently claimed that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in signing Smith Rowe. But, writing on Twitter, McCann has reported(via Football.london) that Brighton have now made a most concrete approach to sign the midfielder and have already submitted an opening £30m-£42m offer to acquire his service.
Smith Rowe to leave Arsenal
However, the ex-agent claims that Arsenal have rejected the proposal but Brighton are keen on securing his signature so they could return with an improved bid soon.
Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign a new defender before tomorrow’s deadline following Jurrien Timber’s unfortunate knee issue. But having already splashed big money this summer, they can’t afford to spend again to strengthen their squad unless they raise funds by selling some players.
They have already managed to recoup some funds by letting a few players leave with Folarin Balogun’s sale handing the Gunners the most money. But it seems Smith Rowe can generate a hefty fee if Arsenal decide to sell him to Brighton should they return with an improved proposal.
So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually sell Smith Rowe in this transfer window and whether they opt to make a move for a new defender before tomorrow’s deadline.
