Arsenal could sign Bitello before today’s deadline
Arsenal could reportedly decide to sign Gremio star Bitello before today’s deadline, as per the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
It has previously been reported that the Gunners are keen on strengthening their engine room in this transfer window and are planning to sign a second midfield option after purchasing Declan Rice from West Ham United in a whooping £105m deal.
Several names have been mentioned as potential targets with Bitello being among them. But, after deciding to keep Thomas Partey in the squad, Arsenal seemingly cooled down their interest in the South American.
However, speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast, Bailey has reported that although Arsenal explored a few options to strengthen their squad, they are expected to be pretty quiet on the deadline.
However, the journalist states that the one deal that needs to be kept an eye on is Bitello. Arsenal really like the Brazilian and Edu Gasper has an excellent relationship with the player. So, the North London club could opt to reignite their interest and sign him before the deadline.
Bitello to Arsenal
Bailey said:
“It looks like that might be it. It doesn’t look like they’re doing much else. They’ve looked around at a few (players). The one I would keep an eye on might be Bitello, the Gremio midfielder they did like a lot.
“In the end, Gremio were asking for too much money, (and it) didn’t happen. But given Edu’s relationship with players in Brazil, it wouldn’t surprise me if they came back to that.”
It has been suggested that Gremio are ready to let their star man leave if they receive an offer of around £9m from his potential suitors such as Arsenal. So, the Gunners can manage to secure his signature for an affordable price if they formalise their interest.
The midfielder is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions in the middle of the park. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can play threading passes between the lines and also works extremely hard without possession.
Bitello is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential so he would be an excellent signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they sign him over the coming hours.
