Arsenal urged to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in January
Ex-Gunner turned pundit Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to sign Victor Osimhen in January to challenge on all fronts this season.
After helping Napoli win the Scudetto last term, the Nigerian has continued his impressive form this season as well, scoring four goals in six Serie A starts.
However, the forward has recently expressed his displeasure over a TikTok video that was published by Napoli’s official page following a disappointing draw against Bologna. The forward wasn’t at his best in that game as he missed a couple of chances and also failed to convert a penalty.
The video – which was posted by Napoli’s official TikTok page seemingly mocked the African after he missed from the spot and it has been suggested that the striker is now exploring the possibility of taking legal action against his club for this incident.
So, the situation is currently tense between the two parties and it has been suggested that Osimhen could ask to leave the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in January.
Osimhen to Arsenal
Now, speaking on Sky Sports, Campbell has urged Arsenal to take advantage of this situation and sign Osimhen in winter to strengthen their frontline as they are currently missing a prolific goal-scorer.
The pundit further states that the 24-year-old is likely to cost big for Arsenal. But, if they want to challenge on all fronts going forward then they need to sign world-class players and those players generally tend to be expensive. So, the Gunners should break the bank and purchase the African.
Campbell said:
“Arsenal do miss that type of striker. What Osimhen would cost will be ground-breaking but it’s just like anything isn’t it? If you want to be that side, and you want that style of player, you’ve got to pay the money. Obviously, with Champions League money coming in, Arsenal might be in with a shout for Osimhen next summer, but the opportunity, I’ll be honest with you, might be in January.”
Arsenal have seemingly been exploring the possibility of signing a new striker in the upcoming transfer window as they have recently been linked with a few options.
Brentford star Ivan Toney is reportedly high on Arteta’s wish-list but it has been suggested that Osimhen is also on Arsenal’s radar. Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature in January.
