Arsenal keeping tabs on South American star Andre
Arsenal have reportedly been keeping a close eye on the development of Fluminense star Andre Trindade ahead of a potential move in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Brazilian out Globo Esporte.
It has recently been reported that the Gunners have started to explore the market to sign a new deep-lying playmaker to push Declan Rice in the box-to-box role and unlock his attacking potential.
Although they have Thomas Partey in their squad, he has been struggling with injury problems over the last few years. So, it appears the North London club are planning to let the Ghanaian leave and replace him with a new option.
Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Arthur Vermeeren being among them, but Andre is now emerging as a serious option.
According to the report by Globo Esporte, Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the development of Andre and they even sent scouts to watch him in action against Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final – where he helped his side win the competition.
Andre to Arsenal
The report further claims that Fluminense are ready to let their star man leave at the end of this year and they could accept a fee of around £30m. So, Arsenal could manage to purchase Andre for a reasonable fee should they formalise their interest.
However, Globo Esporte states that signing Andre won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Liverpool and Fulham are also keen on securing his signature and they also sent scouts to watch him in action in the Copa Libertadores final last weekend. So, the North London club are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the South American.
The 22-year-old is a defensive midfielder by traits but can also be deployed in the box-to-box role. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for long-range passing and also works hard without possession.
Andre is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Gunners eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign the Fluminense star in the upcoming transfer window.
