Arsenal predicted line-up against Sevilla
Following a disappointing defeat against Newcastle United in the Premier League, Arsenal will take on Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The slender 1-0 defeat versus the Magpies was the Gunners’ first defeat in the league this season. Anthony Gordan scored the solitary goal of the game and the goal was seemingly highly debatable.
Nevertheless, the North Londoners will be hoping that last weekend’s defeat won’t make any impact on their performance versus Sevilla and they will be able to bounce back immediately.
The Spanish side have started the new season poorly so Mikel Arteta’s side should come away with all three points from this encounter by taking the home advantage.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Sevilla
Arteta made the big call of dropping Aaron Ramsdale and giving David Raya the first-team spot. However, the Spaniard hasn’t been able to perform at his best at the Emirates Stadium yet, so he might find it difficult to keep his spot in the first eleven if he continues to perform like this.
Nevertheless, Raya is likely to start in goal for Arsenal in this encounter and Ramsdale will have to settle for a place on the bench.
William Saliba should keep hold of his place at the back and alongside him, Gabriel Magalhaes is expected to commence for Arsenal. So, Jakub Kiwior will be among the substitutes once again.
Ben White could continue in the right-back position and Oleksandr Zinchenko might return on the opposite side for Arteta’s side after starting on the bench in the last two games. So, Takehiro Tomiyasu will have to make do with a place on the bench. Jurrien Timber isn’t in contention to feature due to a serious knee issue.
Thomas Partey remains sidelined owing to an injury so Declan Rice should commence in the deep-lying playmaker position. Fabio Vieira and Kai Havertz could complete the midfield trio so Jorginho may return to the bench.
Martin Odegaard was sidelined in the previous game due to injury and is in doubt ahead of this game. Emile Smith Rowe is set to miss out on this encounter owing to an injury and the issue is likely to keep him out of action for a few weeks.
Gabriel Jesus also remains sidelined so Eddie Nketiah is expected to lead the line for Arsenal, though he is in doubt ahead of this game after picking up a knock last time out. Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka may commence on the flanks so Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson would be among the substitutes tomorrow.
