Arsenal plotting swoop for Andre Trindade in January
Arsenal have reportedly been keeping a close eye on the development of Fluminense star Andre Trindade ahead of a potential move in the upcoming transfer window, as per 90min.
Thomas Partey’s persistent recent injury problems have seemingly forced the Gunners to think about making a swoop for a new midfielder to reinforce the engine room.
It was suggested that Arsenal were open to cashing-in on the 30-year-old and signing a new midfielder to replace the African in the last transfer window. Several names were even linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo being mentioned as serious targets.
However, they eventually opted not to make a move for anyone after deciding to keep hold of the former Atletico Madrid man. But, Partey’s latest injury has seemingly made Mikel Arteta’s mind that the African can’t be trusted anymore and a new midfielder needs to be signed.
Andre to Arsenal
According to the report by 90min, Arsenal have identified Andre as a serious target to bolster the midfield and they have been monitoring his development ahead of a potential swoop next year.
The report further claims that the Gunners’ Sporting director, Edu Gasper appreciates Andre ‘greatly’ so the Emirates club could become the 22-year-old’s new home in January.
However, 90min states that securing the South American’s signature won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Juventus, Napoli and Olympique Lyonnais are also keen on signing him.
Fluminense are reportedly open to letting their star man leave in January to allow him to take the next step in his career and they are ready to accept a fee of around £30m. So, the North London club can manage to sign Andre for an affordable price should they make a move for him.
Andre has showcased his talent during his time at Fluminense and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that he will be able to replicate the same performance in the Premier League if he were to join the club.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to secure Andre’s signature in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce their engine room.
