Havertz reveals Arsenal duo convinced him to join the club
Arsenal star Kai Havertz has revealed that Mikel Arteta and Declan Rice have played a key role in convincing him to move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners decided to spend around £65m to purchase the midfielder from Chelsea last summer. However, the German hasn’t had a great start at the North London club, scoring a solitary goal and registering as many assist in 12 league appearances.
So, the German has come under a lot of criticism in recent times after his struggles in front of the goal. However, Havertz has said that he is relaxed about his current situation and is happy at the North London club.
Now, while speaking to the club’s media, Havertz opens up about his decision to join Arsenal and reveals that Arteta and Rice played a key role in convincing him to join the club.
Havertz opens up about his decision to join Arsenal
The German said:
“From the first minute that I spoke to Mikel about joining Arsenal, I had this feeling that he respects all of us very much, so that was also a big part of me joining the club. I just felt the togetherness of the club from the players and especially within the fans and the whole club. At the training ground it’s like a big family – and this is a big factor to achieve great things.
“Before I joined, I spoke a lot with Declan Rice as well, who I know through Mason Mount. For me it was very easy to come into the team because there are so many young players. I’ve played against a lot of them already so I know them from the pitch, and I have found it easy to make friends here. Hopefully it will continue like this.”
Although Havertz hasn’t been able to showcase his best for Arsenal this season, he could turn out to be an excellent signing for the Gunners going forward as he is an extremely talented player. So, it is going to be interesting to see how Havertz’s future unfolds at the North London club over the coming months.
