Udogie names Bukayo Saka as one of his toughest opponents
Tottenham Hotspur star Destiny Udogie has said that Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka is one of the toughest opponents that he has faced so far in his career.
After coming through the Hale End academy, the 22-year-old has managed to establish himself as a key member of Mikel Arteta’s first eleven in recent campaigns.
The Gunners managed to mount a title charge last term before narrowly missing out on winning the league to the eventual champions Manchester City and Saka played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s eye-catching performances.
The North London club have also started the new campaign brilliantly and the forward has also been in excellent form this campaign, scoring four goals and notching up as many assists in 11 league appearances.
Now, during an interview with The Athletic, Udogie says that Saka is one of the toughest opponents that he has come up against so far in his career. The Tottenham star further explains that the Gunners ace’s excellent first touch, his nature of attacking the opposition defenders consistently and his ability to protect the ball have made him an extra special.
Udogie heaps praise on Saka
Udogie said:
“Saka was one of the most difficult because I never played against him and it was a derby. What makes him difficult is the way he takes his first touch, the way he attacks you and protects the ball.”
Saka faced Udogie in the North London Derby back in September. The thrilling encounter finished in stalemate – where the Gunners star was excellent that day and scored a goal from the spot.
The Englishman is currently deemed one of the best young talents in the world and he has been showing signs that he could become a talismanic figure for the North London club in the future. Arsenal recently managed to tie the forward down into a new long-term contract and that is a great piece of business from the Emirates club.
There is a huge optimism surrounding Saka and the North Londoners will be hoping that the youngster will be able to reach his full potential going forward. It is going to be interesting to see whether Saka can help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions in the coming years.
