Chris Sutton predicts Arsenal’s chance of beating Brighton
BBC pundit Chris Sutton has given his verdict about Arsenal’s chance of beating Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have enjoyed a stellar campaign so far this season and they even managed to place themselves at the top of the table for a brief period.
However, after losing to Aston Villa last time out, the North London club have now slipped down to second position. They have accumulated 36 points from 16 games, sitting only one point behind the league leader Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s side have had a promising time in the Champions League as well. They have secured their place in the round of 16 of this competition as a group leader.
However, they were held to a 1-1 draw by PSV Eindhoven in midweek. So, The Gunners are currently winless in their back-to-back games and will be keen on returning to winning ways on Sunday.
Sutton predicts Arsenal’s chance of beating Brighton
Now, speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton has said that Arsenal were unlucky that they couldn’t beat Aston Villa last weekend as they created many chances to score goals.
The pundit further states that Brighton lack solidity at their back so Arsenal will get opportunities to score on Sunday as well. They are likely to take advantage of those this time around and could eventually win this game by a comfortable 3-1 margin.
Sutton said:
“Arsenal will feel hard done by after their defeat at Aston Villa. They created enough chances to win that game and, with Brighton leaking goals the way they are, I can see them doing the same here. Only this time, they will take them.”
Arsenal have started the season with the objective of challenging for the league title. So, they can’t afford to think of anything but a victory in this fixture, especially after their defeat last weekend.
Brighton won this fixture last season so they may feel they can come away with a positive result from this fixture. However, they haven’t been at their best in recent weeks so, it will be tough for them to defeat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
