Arsenal make ‘hot contact’ to sign Galatasaray star Boey

By on January 15, 2024

Arsenal have reportedly made ‘hot contact’ to sign Galatasaray star Sacha Boey, as per the Turkish outlet Sabah.

The Gunners have struggled with injury problems at their back this season as Jurrien Timber has been ruled out for the majority of this campaign after sustaining a serious knee issue in his Premier League debut.

In addition, Takehiro Tomiyasu has found it difficult to stay fit in recent campaigns. So, Ben White has been playing as a right-back in recent times but he has struggled to showcase his best over the last few games.

Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Arsenal could look to strengthen their backline in January and purchasing a new right-back is on Mikel Arteta’s wish-list.

While citing and translating the print version of Sabah, Sport Witness has reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Boey and Galatasaray are ‘open to’ letting their star man leave if they receive an offer of around £17m.

Boey to Arsenal

The report further claims that Arsenal have already had ‘hot contact’ over this deal so the Gunners could opt to sign the Frenchman this month or at the end of this campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side hold a long-term interest in Boey as they were linked with a move for him last summer. However, they didn’t opt to formalise their interest so a deal never materialised.

But, it appears Arsenal are now contemplating signing a new right-back so they could look to make a concrete approach to purchase the 23-year-old this time around.

Boey is quick, strong, technically sound, can play out from the back, is excellent in defensive contributions, possesses efficiency going forward and also reads the game well.

The Galatasaray star is a talented player and could be a shrewd signing for the North London club to reinforce their backline if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Boey in January or next summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal entered the winter break following three consecutive defeats in all competitions. So, the Emirates club will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they return to action against Crystal Palace next weekend.
