Pundit urges Osimhen to join Arsenal by snubbing Chelsea
BBC pundit Chris Sutton has urged Napoli star Victor Osimhen to join Arsenal by snubbing Chelsea.
It has recently been reported that the 25-year-old has decided to move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at the end of this season to take a new challenge in his career and his preference is to move to the Premier League.
The Gunners and the Blues have reportedly been exploring the possibility of signing a new striker next summer to reinforce their frontline. Several names have been mentioned as potential targets for them with Osimhen emerging as a key option.
Now, speaking on BBC’s Monday Night Club, Sutton has said that Osimhen would certainly bolster Chelsea or Arsenal’s attack if he joins either of those club.
However, the pundit claims that Chelsea have been in a difficult situation, while Arsenal have been challenging for bigger prices in recent times and it’s likely to be the case over the coming years. So, Sutton states that if Osimhen wants to win big trophies then he should move to the Emirates Stadium over Stamford Bridge next summer.
Osimhen to Arsenal
Sutton said:
“Is he better than what Arsenal have got? Is he better than what Chelsea have got? Absolutely! Do we think that Arsenal are going to push more than Chelsea in the next couple of seasons? Probably, but Chelsea are a bit of a slow burner. They are getting a little bit better Chelsea. It’s difficult to see how this one will pan out. But Arsenal are getting desperate for a No 9.
“… Certainly with Nicolas Jackson, Osimhen is a massive upgrade. Nkunku can’t get himself fit and you feel for Pochettino with that one. They are interesting Chelsea because it’s not totally out of the realms of possibility that all of a sudden next season they hit the ground running and really push because they do have some good players. But if he’s(Osimhen) really ambitious at this moment in time, you wouldn’t touch Chelsea ahead of Arsenal.”
It has been suggested that Osimhen has a £113m release clause included in his current contract so Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the striker away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they eventually manage to secure his signature by beating Chelsea in this race.
