Arsenal Eyeing move for Leicester star Dewsbury-Hall
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are showing a keen interest in Leicester City playmaker Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
This season, Arsenal’s midfield hasn’t clicked. The levels that Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, and Martin Odegaard set for Arsenal’s engine room last season have been too high to meet since Xhaka’s departure to Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
Kai Havertz was signed and packaged as Xhaka’s successor, but despite flashes of brilliance, he has yet to improve Arsenal’s engine room as he should have. There’s still that feeling Arteta needs to find the perfect Xhaka replacement; this has prompted transfer rumors linking Arsenal with another marquee midfield signing.
Enter Dewsbury-Hall: The Leicester City playmaker has been in excellent form this season, with nine goals and nine assists in 25 starts and two substitute appearances so far in the Championship.
This fine form has attracted the Gunners’ curiosity, and according to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke with Give Me Sport, Arsenal decision makers feel Dewsbury-Hall is very talented, and that’s why they have their scouts keeping an eye on him, though some other clubs are also doing the same.
Big fee
The European Transfers Guru claims that a £40 million bid from Arsenal this winter would have most likely sealed the deal. However, with Arsenal’s keenness to comply with FFP after heavy spending last summer, this will not be achievable.
Romano suggests that the Gunners should hope that Brighton, who were desperate for the Englishman and had this winter already presented the Foxes with a £20 million plus add-ons offer, do not return for the 25-year-old. If he remains at King Power, Arsenal will have the opportunity to pursue him in the summer.
“From what I heard, they have sent some scouts multiple times to follow him because they believe he is very talented. Also, other clubs did the same, so not just Arsenal. I think it’s three or four clubs doing the same. The only proposal came from Brighton,” said Romano on Give Me Sport.
“From what I heard, they offered around £20 million for him with some add-ons included in the proposal. This is still not enough to convince Leicester because they have always wanted around £40 million for Dewsbury-Hall, so I think it’s not going to be that easy.
“The best candidate to sign the player in the final days is Brighton more than Arsenal in this moment.”
By now, I’m sure you may be convinced about other top Arsenal midfield targets, but the Leicester man is definitely one to keep an eye on; he might be the missing link in the Arsenal midfield.
