Following Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool, Declan Rice has heaped praise on manager Mikel Arteta on the clubs official website.

It’s no secret that the 4th of February could be a momentous day for Arsenal fans when it comes to the 2023–24 season. It may be one of those days at the end of the season when they’ll look back and see that this was one of the victories that helped us win the league.

Arsenal had a good start against Liverpool, pressing from midfield and making things difficult for them. Bukayo Saka wasted a huge opportunity before he finally opened the scoring for Arsenal following a lovely move. Later on in the first half, Gabriel Magalhães scored a calamitous own goal to gift Liverpool an undeserved equaliser. At halftime, the game was tied 1-1.

In the second half, Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk made a mistake that allowed Gabriel Martinelli to score, giving Arsenal the advantage. Arsenal weathered a scare from Liverpool, who were looking for an equaliser. Later, Ibrahima Konate was sent off after receiving his second yellow card, and Trossard scored in stoppage time to secure Arsenal’s 3-1 victory.

Rice praises Arteta’s impact

Rice talked with the Arsenal media team after the game, and while he and the boys did the work on the pitch, he was clearly grateful for Mikel Arteta’s contributions to their success on it.

He boasted that the Arsenal manager is heavily involved in almost everything they do, which is why they are so ‘grateful’ to have him as their manager.

“He’s our manager; he lives on the pitch with us,” Rice said after the game. “He lives every ball with us, and when you have that and you see what he transmits from the sidelines to the pitch, it gives you so much confidence as a player.

“We’re really grateful we have him as our manager.”

Arteta’s work at Arsenal since taking over speaks for itself. He has genuinely transformed Arsenal as a team. The Gunners have regained their form under him, and they are now playing beautiful football while competing for top honours.

Many feel Arteta is underappreciated as he still receives unjust criticism from pundits and even some of his own fans. Some don’t like his overly enthusiastic persona on the touchline, or feel he complains too much, but nobody can deny he’s improved this Arsenal team no-end.

Hopefully, Arsenal’s season ends in glory, as that is the only way to cap Arteta’s brilliant work at the Emirates Stadium.
