Arsenal hold talks to sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite

By on February 15, 2024

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Everton to learn about the details of signing Jarrad Branthwaite in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Daily Mail.

After joining the Toffees back in 2020, the 21-year-old went out on loan on a couple of occasions before establishing himself as a key member in Sean Dyche’s starting eleven this term.

The defender has displayed promising performances this campaign and it seems having been impressed by the youngster’s recent eye-catching displays in the Premier League, several big English clubs have registered their intention to sign him.

According to the report by the Daily Mail, Arsenal have expressed their interest in Branthwaite and they have already held initial talks with Everton to enquire about the details of purchasing him this summer.

Branthwaite to Arsenal

It has been suggested that Everton could be forced to cash-in on some of their star men this summer due to their financial issues. So, they could sell Branthwaite should they receive an offer of around £75m and therefore, the Gunners will have to spend a big fee to lure the Englishman to the Emirates Stadium.

However, the Daily Mail states that although Arsenal are interested in signing Branthwaite, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the race to secure his signature. So, it’s going to be extremely difficult for Mikel Arteta’s side to get any potential deal done for the Everton star.

The 21-year-old, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, efficient in defensive contributions and also reads the game well.

Branthwaite is a talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class defender in the future. With Jakub Kiwior linked with a move away from the club, the Englishman could be an excellent option to replace the Polish international. So, the youngster could be a great coup for Arsenal to beef up their backline if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to sign Branthwaite by beating their rivals in this race in the upcoming transfer window.
