Arsenal ‘well positioned’ to sign Brentford ace Ivan Toney
Arsenal are reportedly ‘well positioned’ to beat their rivals in the race to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney, as per the transfer journalist Rudy Galetti.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners have prioritised strengthening their frontline by signing a new prolific striker in the upcoming transfer window.
Numerous forward options have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Toney being mentioned as the primary option. However, apart from the Englishman, Victor Osimhen has also been suggested as a serious target for the North London club.
Now, writing on Caught Offside, Galetti has reported that Toney is ready to leave Brentford to take a new challenge in his career and the Bees are open to cashing-in on him if they receive an offer of more than £55m.
The journalist further claims that Manchester United and Chelsea have also been showing an interest in signing Toney but Arsenal are ‘well positioned’ to beat their rivals in the race to purchase the 27-year-old.
Toney to Arsenal
Galetti also states that Arsenal could sell Eddie Nketiah this summer and the Hale End graduate has already started to attract a lot of attention ahead of the summer window.
Toney enjoyed a stellar campaign last term but following his eight-month suspension after being found guilty of breaching the betting rules, there was concern whether he would be able to replicate the same performance following a lengthy lay-off. However, the Brentford star has resumed his career brilliantly, scoring three goals in four league appearances.
Toney has already showcased his qualities in the Premier League over the last few years so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him in the upcoming window. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to secure his signature if he moves away from Brentford ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, after thrashing West Ham United last weekend, Arsenal will take on Burnley on Saturday before facing off against FC Porto in the Champions League next week. So, the Gunners will be desperate to continue their winning run in the upcoming fixtures.
