Fabrizio Romano offers update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Jorrel Hato
During a discussion with Caught Offside regarding his latest Daily Brief, Fabrizio Romano shared the latest updates on Arsenal’s pursuit of defensive target Jorrel Hato.
Hato is an outstanding defender for Dutch powerhouse Ajax. At the age of 17, he is a dependable left-back or centre defender. He is already receiving notice as Ajax’s emerging talent, following in the lines of Frankie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, and Jurrien Timber.
The skilled defender has been making significant impacts on the Ajax first team in the past few months. This season, he (as per WhoScored) has played 2475 out of the 2610 minutes across 29 apps in all competitions. It’s truly impressive to see a young individual make such an impact.
According to WhoScored’s analysis, Hato enjoys dribbling, playing short passes, and tackling. His performance is highly regarded, showcasing his expertise in intercepting and tackling the ball. They are convinced that improving his concentration will help him reach his full potential.
Fabrizio Romano discusses Hato
The Ajax no. 4 to is a standout player, and that’s why Fabrizio Romano has taken his time to discuss a potential move to Arsenal. Several top European clubs are also closely monitoring the Ajax star, with Arsenal emerging as a strong contender for his signature.
Ajax are prepared to present him with a new deal that Romano indicates will be agreed upon soon. Surprisingly, despite the clear interest in the defender, the Amsterdam-based side will not include a release clause in his deal, as Romano noted.
“I’ve mentioned interest from Arsenal in Jorrel Hato multiple times because they’ve been scouting him for months, but it’s also the same for other European top clubs,” Romano said.
“Hato is also set to sign new deal at Ajax very soon; it’s a matter of final details, and it will include NO release clause, from what I’m told.”
As per Transfermarkt, his value is estimated at around £19 million but it’s unclear how much Ajax will demand for his departure. Arsenal are clearly keeping a close eye on Hato and could make a formal move in the summer.
