Arsenal are totally convinced about signing Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney
Dean Jones, speaking to Give Me Sport, has provided a significant update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney after claiming the Gunners are ‘totally convinced’ about signing the duo.
Most football fans who have watched Arsenal since the beginning of the season have probably noticed the flaws in their attack. The Gunners were creating opportunities but not converting them.
Arsenal lack a clinical striker, and there are games this season that they would have won if they had one. Before the winter break, everyone was certain they needed to sign a striker. According to The Independent, Ivan Toney, who was returning from his betting ban in January, was their top transfer target.
In addition to a striker, Arsenal wanted a winger. In several games, the recurring issue of Bukayo Saka’s lack of a reliable deputy became obvious. At the moment, Saka is back to his best but he still needs to be protected and Arteta needs the option to rotate.
According to the Mirror, Wolves’ Pedro Neto is a top winter target for Arsenal’s right wing position. The Portuguese international is thought to be a good fit on Arsenal’s right wing.
These two moves for a right-winger and a striker in the winter would have made Arsenal title favorites. Unfortunately, they were unable to complete any deals due to FFP restrictions.
Neto and Toney transfers, the latest
Arsenal are expected to focus on strengthening their attack in the summer. Last week, Graeme Bailey confirmed on HITC that Arsenal dispatched scouts to watch Wolves’ Premier League match against Brentford. That game provided Arsenal scouts with an excellent opportunity to observe Toney and Neto up close.
Following Bailey’s claims about Neto and Toney being observed, Dean Jones has dropped a major revelation concerning the two. The transfer insider claims that Arsenal are ‘totally convinced’ about the duo and they feel they would both be excellent additions to Arteta’s squad.
Jones said:
“It was an ideal fixture for them to take in those two players. Both of them have been on the radar over the past year, and it was an opportunity to check exactly where each player is at this stage of the season.
“To be honest, I think it’s beyond the stage of gauging how good either player is. Arsenal are totally convinced that either of them or both of them could work well at the Emirates. There are not really any doubts around that.”
Arsenal must devise a strategy for completing these deals. They can begin negotiations behind the scenes with the athletes’ entourage. They can also engage their teams and confirm their position on possible sales.
Toney and Neto have proven themselves in the Premier League; they are players you can trust. Neto as per Football London could be available for around £60 million, Toney could be available for £50 million as per Sports Lens.
Therefore, it would cost around £110m to sign both Toney and Neto this summer. It would be money well spent, and the attacking pair could help Arsenal compete on all fronts next season.
