Arsenal register interest in signing Artem Dovbyk
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Girona FC star Artem Dovbyk in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are set to sign a new striker to reinforce their frontline ahead of next season. Numerous centre-forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen being mentioned as the primary options.
However, it has been suggested that purchasing Toney or Osimhen could be extremely difficult for the North London club as the duo is also on the radar of other clubs around Europe.
So, the Gunners are seemingly lining up alternative options in-case they fail to sign Toney or Osimhen with Dovbyk now emerging as a serious option.
According to the report by Fichajes, Arsenal have expressed their intentions to sign the Ukrainian and they could make a swoop for him in the upcoming transfer window.
Dovbyk to Arsenal
The 26-year-old – valued at around £24m by Transfermarkt – still has more than four years left in his current contract. So, Girona are in a strong position to demand a big fee to sell their star man this summer.
After joining the Catalan club last summer, the striker has enjoyed a stellar campaign this term, scoring 14 goals and registering five assists in 23 La Liga appearances. Girona have been mounting a title charge this term under Michel’s guidance and the Ukrainian playing a pivotal role in the Spaniard’s starting eleven.
So, it appears after being impressed by Dovbyk’s recent promising performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.
The striker, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is strong, good in the air, has the ability to hold-up the play, can finish off his chances and also works hard without possession.
Dovbyk could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal to reinforce their frontline. However, the striker hasn’t showcased his qualities at the highest level consistently enough yet to prove that he would be the right option for Arsenal to help them achieve their lofty ambitions going forward.
So, Arsenal could be better off exploring other options to reinforce their attacking department in the upcoming transfer window.
