Arsenal eyeing RB Salzburg Midfielder, Oscar Gloukh
Football Insider claims that Arsenal are a ‘leading candidate’ to sign Oscar Gloukh following thorough scouting of the RB Salzburg midfielder.
The report states that Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the 19-year-old midfielder with scouts putting together a huge file on Gloukh ahead of a possible summer swoop.
Football Insider says Arsenal are a ‘leading candidate’ to sign Gloukh at the end of the season. However, the Gunners face competition as Aston Villa are also showing a keen interest in the RB Salzburg ace while other unnamed Premier League sides are keeping a close eye on his progress.
Gloukh a great transfer option
Ever since Gloukh joined RB Salzburg from Maccabi Tell Aviv in January 2023, he has shown significant improvement. This season, according to Transfermarkt, which values him at £13 million, he has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 28 games.
Gloukh excels when played at No. 10. He could be the ideal backup for Martin Odegaard if signed. He’s a raw talent who can be gradually integrated into the Arsenal team. Mikel Arteta has proven his ability to bring out the best in young talents having helped develop the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
Even if Arsenal win the league this season, they still need to strengthen the squad in the summer to be able to compete on all fronts next year and Gloukh could be a solid squad player.
In the 1-0 loss to FC Porto, Arteta needed game-changers, but it was clear he didn’t think he had any at his disposal. Several key players were out injured and Arteta only used one of his substitutes – which was defensive midfielder Jorginho.
During the summer, Arteta should consider adding some quality to his squad. If the scouting reports on Gloukh are all positive, then he should definitely be considered one of the top additions for the summer.
