Eddie Howe says ‘best team’ Arsenal are definitely in the title race
After losing 4-1 against Arsenal, Eddie Howe couldn’t help but admit on beIN (as quoted by The Metro) that the Gunners were one of the best teams his side had faced this season.
After a difficult Champions League week in which Arsenal lost to FC Porto in the opening leg of the round of 16, the Gunners bounced back against the Magpies on Saturday night.
Sven Botman’s own goal, along with goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Jakub Kiwior, helped Arsenal defeat Newcastle 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium. With this victory, the Gunners maintained their flawless league record since the New Year.
One who judged the North Londoners based on their bad run of results over the festive season must now be stunned. Arsenal are definitely in contention for the league title, and Eddie Howe agrees.
Eddie Howe on Arsenal’s title chances
Following the Emirates thrashing, beIN Sports questioned the Newcastle manager about his thoughts on Arsenal’s Premier League title chances. He responded:
“Off the back of today I have to say they’re right in it, the title race.
“They’re definitely one of the best teams we’ve played this season.”
Eddie Howe’s comments should reinforce the idea that Arsenal are right in the mix for the title. However, there are 12 more mountains to conquer. Arsenal just needs to win one game at a time, control what they can, and perhaps by May, they will be at the top of the standings.
This Arsenal team has been another animal since the winter break; perhaps, they can keep up their good form. This is the moment when the league is won or lost; hopefully, the Gunners keep this in mind as they battle City and Liverpool.
Arsenal’s next game is away against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on March 4th, and Gooners must hope they can pick up where they left off against Newcastle.
