Arsenal ready to pay £250k-a-week to sign Victor Osimhen
Ben Jacobs has claimed that Arsenal are willing to pay £250,000-a-week to sign Victor Osimhen this summer and they cannot be ruled out of the race to land the Napoli hitman, as per Give Me Sport.
Arsenal’s search for a striker has been heavily reported; while lately they have improved their goal-scoring output, they still lack a clinical No.9. Their striking options are disappointing; Gabriel Jesus has struggled to perform regularly and maintain fitness, while Eddie Nketiah has failed to force his way into Mikel Arteta’s first team. Arsenal obviously needs a strong striker to advance to the next level.
With the Gunners looking for a striker, Osimhen’s anticipated departure from Napoli in the summer should pique their interest. The 25-year-old will be in high demand but Ben Jacobs believes Arsenal are firmly in the race.
According to Jacobs, while PSG and Chelsea are also in the running, the transfer battle could come down to Arsenal and Chelsea as the player is interested in moving to the Premier League. Jacobs suggests that Arsenal are ‘happy to pay’ his £250,000-a-week wage demands so the North Londoners can’t be ruled out.
Ben Jacobs on Osimhen’s future
“We still can’t rule out Arsenal in the race for Osimhen. It’s also true that PSG have Osimhen very, very high on their list of targets and can move in the market because they will free up money due to Kylian Mbappe’s departure,” said Jacobs.
“I’m still told by sources that Osimhen’s priority is the Premier League, which is encouraging for Chelsea and Arsenal. He would be looking for about £250,000 per week, which Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG would all be happy to pay.”
Osimhen is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers. This season, he has managed to score 10 goals and supply 3 assists in 20 games across all competitions, during a campaign that’s be disrupted by injuries and the AFCON.
However, he showed his lethal touch in front of goal last season after netting 31 times to help Napoli win the Serie A title, so he’s more than capable of scoring 25+ in a team like Arsenal.
Getting him on board, though, will require more than simply meeting his wage demands; a club must also be prepared to trigger his release clause, which is estimated to be worth around £112m.
Arsenal are in need of a great striker, and with Osimhen rumoured to be switching clubs, it appears the Gunners are plotting an ambitious move for the Nigerian.
